Service Description

Headstand & Forearm Stand Workshop Thursday, 24th October 6 - 8 pm £25 One of the most playful parts of yoga is the art of learning to balance upside down and in fact, it's fondly referred to as the upside down life. I'm very excited to offer this 2 hour workshop, which is for you if you are beginning to explore the journey to headstand 'Sirsasana' or forearm stand 'Pincha Mayurasana'. All of our bodies are unique, individual attention will be given to ensure all needs are met. You will be able to use the wall for support and I am trained to offer physical support if wanted. For this workshop it is advisable to have a consistent vinyasa practice or consistent experience in callisthenics; it is not suitable for beginners to yoga. Downward Dog is the first place we begin to put our weight into our hands when our hips are above our heart and it's from here that we build awareness of hand, wrist, arm, shoulder and overall strength and flexibility combined. Your evening: ~ You will move through an opening vinyasa flow to prepare your body for your journey upside down. ~ We will look at the anatomy of each pose to better understand how your body moves into them. ~ A close look at hand, fingertip, gaze and head placements - what feels right for you? ~ How to use your breathing to support your entry. ~ Working with the negatives - how to exit your pose and build strength on the way down. ~ Learning to go upside down means we do sometimes fall - we will learn to fall 'bail out' safely. Getting upside down: > The skills for Headstand and the Headstand variations. > The skills for Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Stand) and the Pincha variations. ~ A warm down towards a restful savasana. The biggest asset we can bring to our yoga practice as we develop inversions is a sense of playfulness and an understanding that sometimes the best things take a little time ;) ~ You are welcome to bring your own mat or borrow one here. We have blocks, bolsters and straps for your use. Be at ease in clothing that enables you to go upside down with confidence. Remember to bring: Water bottle. Warm jumper or blanket for your savasana. Phone to record yourself or any demos. At: The Dreaming Moon Studio 30 Leconfield Road, Lancing, Sussex, BN15 9JB With love, Nicola xx
